How to Combat Cabin Fever with Carrots and tell Climate Change from Weather
Aka “How to Write a Blog Post Title that You Can’t Say 10 Times Fast”.
Am I ever lonely for some real homegrown produce… the glossy-photo winter catalogs just aren’t helping!
Veggies aren’t all that relevant to the rest of this post. However, garden photos help me avert a rampant snow-induced garden fever with symptoms like an emptied bank account and dozens of seed-stuffed packages arriving in the mail. You know what I’m talking about!
Which brings me to the weather… (don’t worry, it’s a comedy skit):
Potato, potahto, tomato, tomahto… nah. Global climate change and the weather really are different.
Someone pass me a shovel!

ALSO if anyone knows how to override WordPress’s insistence on centering Youtube videos, let me know. (I want it to align left but it is ignoring the HTML).

The point of this little video is SO important. I wish one could edit out the loud laughter, though.

Yeah, I thought the laugh track on that thing was a little over-enthusiastic. I think comedy with a message tends to be very funny, though!

Is that something they are sending around in the UK? The leaflet I mean. My computer is old and slow and the video didn’t play smoothly, I think I may have missed something!

Oh no, it’s a fake leaflet. It’s a comedy skit and the premise of the joke is that people who say global climate change isn’t real because it is snowing/raining/cold that day will get arrested.
Mainly, it gave me the giggles and I’ve been indoors too much lately.

They are different, although technically, global climate has always been, and always will change…us humans just don’t need to hurry things along. As for WordPress, it’s clunky, but you could probably force a left alignment by placing the video in a table:

That video is absolutely hysterical—I love British humor, it must be in my genes.

Haha, I can just see one of those expensive home DNA tests coming back with “tendency towards British humor.”

That video tickled my funny bone! (not to be confused with my actual elbow.)
I’ll show it to my hubster later. He loves british humor, too.

LOL. The seed catalog always give so much temptation. Here I am in summer but I am already fretting to make time to browse the seed catalog for autumn planting when they are so much to do outside.

Yeah, I start doing that when the season is waning, too. I think it is worse when I have nothing in the ground — next year I’ve got to have some winter polytunnels again.

Today it was warm and sunny and I felt impatient: I had to go do something! I was happy just to sow a bit of Nepeta for my cat.

We should do that for our kitties, too — I have to put an up-ended metal crate over catnip plants or all the neighborhood cats roll & nibble them into oblivion.

Being a Brit myself, I don’t find the video clip as funny as perhaps I ought to! It’s almost plausible that our government WOULD send round such a leaflet. And besides, talking about the weather is one of our national pastimes (second only to “forming queues”) and we’ve never considered that accuracy in such conversations is all that necessary, just as long as you talk about the subject frequently enough.

Haha! You should write a post on “things you can form queues for.” I thought the leaflet seemed plausible for the US, too (perhaps not being arrested for violating it, though).

No, I didn’t write a post on it. I considered it even though the Grand Canyon doesn’t really fit into an Appalachian-centered blog, but I think I got distracted.

It was always global warming they were going on about. Here in Scotland where in the last few years there has been the lowest winter temperatures ever recorded, its now referred to as climate change. Walk past anyone in Aberdeen they don’t say hello or good morning its, (aye its a nasty day) or simply (freezing) or in an unusual warm humid day it would be (awfa close today isn’t it) Haven’t listened in to your video yet, wife wont let me she is watching an extended edition of the BBC weather.

I love calling a humid day “close.” I think we have mostly close days in the American south, so I’ll be stealing that one!
